This activity is a unique meeting bringing together cardiologists and maternal care specialists involved in caring for the pregnant patient with heart disease. Currently, cardiovascular disease is one of the highest causes of maternal morbidity and mortality. It is also a time when interdisciplinary management between primary care providers, obstetricians, and cardiologists is critical. This CME program is designed to help all providers to better recognize, counsel, and refer women with cardiovascular conditions before pregnancy; and for all providers who encounter pregnant women with cardiovascular disease to better manage them for safer outcomes.

This program will cover common knee joint problems commonly encountered in physical therapy practice. Special attention will be given to patellofemoral/anterior knee pain, ligament injury and reconstruction, and the degenerative knee from both the medical/surgical and rehabilitation perspectives. Current evidence based practice patterns will be discussed and summarized. Discussions will include return to play and functional testing criteria, articular cartilage injuries and healing, treatment of tendinitis and instability, surgical and non surgical interventions for knee joint trauma and degeneration, and the use of and science behind viscosupplementation and intra-articular injections. This course will include both didactic and lab components highlighting assessment, therapeutic exercise, and manual therapy techniques.

This activity has been approved by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for 6 CCUs for PTs and PTAs.
